Why Leandra Medine repels makeup

On Wednesday, Man Repeller blogger Leandra Medine wrote a blog post addressing a controversial topic: Why doesn’t she wear makeup?
At this point, I’ve lost track of the articles I’ve read regarding makeup lately. Whether it be “How Much Makeup Do Men Really Like?” (Answer: Less than a Toddlers and Tiaras contestant but enough to look like the Airbrush Fairy blesses you every morning while Beyonce’s “Flawless” plays in the background) or “How to Achieve the Perfect ‘No-Makeup’ Look” (Answer: A bank-breaking addiction to YSL Touche Éclat and an extra hour from your already meager sleep schedule).
Leandra’s viewpoint on the Great Makeup Debate is refreshingly honest. I personally wear makeup on a daily basis (sans those lazy days at home when my only date is with Netflix) and have no intention of banishing my vast collection of red lipstick just yet. But why are we still so hung up on the topic? Read Leandra’s essay below, or head over to Man Repeller and read it there.
Three months ago, the founder of a website, who I had recently met, cc’ed me on an e-mail correspondence with his assistant. He was trying to introduce us and in doing so, made the mistake of not deleting their previous conversation thread. I scrolled down and noticed that he’d confirmed to her that I was “verrrrrrrry funny. Smart, too.” This made me feel wonderful. But as I kept reading, there it was.
“She is ugly as fuck tho. Truly a man repeller.”
